NEW PONTOON TRAILERS - boats - by dealer - marine sale - craigslist (2024)

    FAQs

Do boat trailers hold their value? ›

The same thing happens when you trade it in. The dealer knows there is a strong likelihood that they will need to put a trailer in the package, and probably a new one, therefore your trade value can be impacted negatively. In theory, a good used trailer as part of a boat package will retain 70-95% of its value.

Are pontoon boats easy to trailer? ›

Trailering a pontoon boat or a tritoon isn't much different from any other boat other than they seem bigger. With a trailer, pontoon boats weigh 2,000-4,000 pounds depending on their length, the size of the outboard(s) and the number of tubes. Check your truck specs to see if you have enough power to tow.

What is a pontoon boat trailer? ›

    PONTOON TRAILERS: BUNK-TYPE VS.

Scissor-type trailers, sometimes called “Fold-down”, feature a narrow frame that fits between the pontoons and lifts the boat by the deck in the center. Because of its design, this type of trailer cannot haul triple pontoon models.

What are common problems with boat trailers? ›

While more than 21 percent of the calls involve wheel bearing and hub problems, like Lazar's, the most common call (44 percent) is for tire issues. Other problems include axles, brakes, and tow-vehicle trouble. (Yes, TRAILER ASSIST even covers tow vehicles!)

How do I find the value of my trailer? ›

    Ask the Experts

Similar to the Kelly Blue Book for cars, the Dealer NADA RV price book is often consulted by dealers looking at purchasing your RV. Search units by year, make and model to find trade-in and retail value.

Do new pontoon boats come with trailers? ›

Pontoon boat trailers are generally not built and sold by pontoon boat manufacturers. This is important because you should not expect a trailer to come with the boat when it's built.

What size trailer do I need for a pontoon boat? ›

Trailers for every size pontoon should be 3' to 4' longer than the pontoon boat. A trailer for a 20' boat should be 23'-24'. A trailer for a 24' should be 27'-28' length overall. In the photo to the left, the bunk could perhaps be a few inches longer, but with the weight in the back it's immaterial.

How far to back a pontoon trailer into water? ›

The style of the hull will also influence the launch, but in general, you will want to back the trailer until the middle of the fender is just under the water. This will allow the boat to float on the back of the trailer.

    Are pontoon trailers safe? ›

Pontoons have been towed safely for sixty years on this type of trailer, and the majority of owners who take the proper precautions never any trouble.

How much weight can a pontoon boat trailer hold? ›

The typical capacity is around 2,000 pounds, including both the passengers and equipment. Finally, the average pontoon boat trailer weighs approximately 1,200 pounds, for a total towing weight of around 3,700 pounds, assuming you carry 500 pounds of gear.

Is there a difference between a pontoon trailer and a tritoon trailer? ›

Tritoons can handle rough, choppy water better than pontoons because the third toon on a tritoon helps stabilize the boat and allows for more friction between the water and the bottom of your boat. If you'll be on rough water, open water, or docking in choppy waters, a tritoon is a better option for you.

What is the life expectancy of a boat trailer? ›

Boat trailers: Boat trailers are used for transporting boats, and with proper maintenance, they can last for 10 to 15 years or more. The lifespan of a boat trailer can be extended by regular inspections and repairs to the axles, bearings, and other critical components.

Do trailers have good resale value? ›

While it's true that it's impossible to sell your RV for its original purchase price when in good condition, its resale value can be almost just as good. However, if the exterior of a travel trailer is significantly damaged, you might sell it for less than half its real value.

How much do trailers depreciate in value? ›

These aren't hard figures mind you, but a general gist and ratio of how quickly a brand spanking new RV or trailer loses value. The first year will hit you the hardest, with a new model dropping approximately 20% of their value even if you've only taken it out once! Some can go down 30% or more.

What are the benefits of a boat trailer? ›

    Boat Trailers
    • Advanced protection for your boat. One of the most important duties of a trailer is to protect your boat when it's out of its element. ...
    • Easier Maintenance. ...
    • Superior Finish. ...
    • Safety First. ...
    • Trouble-free LED Lighting System. ...
